چکیده

Abstract Background It is important to differentiate cervical lymph nodes. So, this study aims assess the ability of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in differentiating lymphadenopathy (LNs). Materials and methods This retrospective was done upon 100 patients with LNs who had DTI over a year period. The fractional anisotropy (FA) mean diffusivity (MD) values were measured. Results (the age 45 ± 2 years (standard deviation [SD]), 63 men). MD FA malignant (0.83 0.14 × 10 −3 mm /s, 0.26 0.07) significantly different; ( P = 0.001) than those benign (1.32 0.33 –3 0.22 0.09). 0.94 /s 0.21 used discriminate LNs, AUC 0.892 0.758, 84% 71% accuracy, respectively. Combined parameters revealed 0.914 81%. metastatic (0.86 0.12 0.25 statistically 0.001, 0.03) lymphomatous nodes (0.66 0.13 0.28 0.02). distinguish from 0.82, 0.711, (0.71 0.27) cutoff values, 95.3%, 73.4% 0.824 AUC, 95.3% 98.2% sensitivity, 75% specificity. There significant statistical difference between well-moderately versus poorly differentiated stages I II 0.018) III IV LNs. Conclusions Combining promising technique that can play major role distinguishing different categories

Diffusion tensor imaging in primary cervical dystonia.

BACKGROUND It is the traditional view that primary dystonia arises from abnormal basal ganglia function but causes no apparent morphological changes. OBJECTIVE To determine whether cervical dystonia leads to ultrastructural changes in the brain, using diffusion tensor imaging to compare brain structure in 15 patients with cervical dystonia with 10 healthy controls. DESIGN Fractional anisotr...

Evaluation of White Matter Tracts in Autistic Individuals: A Review of Diffusion Tensor Imaging Studies

Introduction: Many cognitive and social deficits in autism are caused by abnormal functional connections between brain networks, which are manifested by impaired integrity of white matter tracts. White matter tracts are like the "highways" of the brain, which allow fast and efficient communication in different areas of the brain. The purpose of this article is to review the results of autism st...

Diffusion tensor MR imaging in cervical spine trauma.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Our aim was to investigate the extent and severity of changes in spinal cord diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) parameters in patients with cervical cord injury. MATERIALS AND METHODS DTI was performed in 20 symptomatic patients (mean, 45.7 +/- 17.7 years of age; 2 women, 18 men) with cervical spine trauma and 8 volunteers (mean, 34.2 +/- 10.7 years of age; 6 men, 2 women)....

Sensitivity-encoded diffusion tensor MR imaging of the cervical cord.

The aim of this study was to apply sensitivity-encoding (SENSE) echo-planar imaging (EPI) to diffusion tensor MR imaging of the cervical cord, an anatomic region where MR imaging is particularly challenging. This technique was implemented with a SENSE reduction factor of 2 and used for imaging a water phantom and five healthy volunteers. Off-resonance artifacts were notably reduced compared wit...

Diffusion tensor imaging in the characterization of multiple system atrophy

PURPOSE Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a rare neurodegenerative disease that remains poorly understood, and the diagnosis of MSA continues to be challenging. We endeavored to improve the diagnostic process and understanding of in vivo characteristics of MSA by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty MSA subjects, ten parkinsonian dominant (MSA-P), ten cerebellar dominan...
